copper y-bend

Copper Y bends for AHUs and VRF/VRV systems, for the point where one line has to divide into two without losing pressure or balance.

“One bend, two circuits, no extra fitting in between. ”

A copper Y bend takes a single stem of pipe and forms it into two parallel legs joined by a tight, smooth-radius arc. It looks more like a hairpin than a standard tee, and that shape is deliberate: in most AHU coil headers and VRF indoor-unit connections, two circuits sit close together and run parallel rather than splayed out at an angle. A Y bend joins or splits them cleanly, in one brazed piece, instead of forcing an installer to fit two separate elbows and a short length of pipe between them.

The shape also affects how refrigerant actually moves through the joint. A sharp elbow or an undersized branch fitting slows flow down and creates turbulence, and turbulence is where oil starts separating out of the refrigerant instead of returning to the compressor. Keeping the internal bore consistent through the curve of a Y bend avoids that. It’s a small detail on paper — in practice, it’s usually the difference between a system that runs quietly for years and one that starts making noise, or losing capacity, within a season or two.

We manufacture our copper Y bends from 5 mm to 41.3 mm, in equal and reducing configurations, to cover both AHU coil circuits and VRF/VRV branch runs.

Why 227 Enterprise

A Y bend is a small part with no room for a weak joint.
We’ve spent 16+years forming, brazing and finishing copper for refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and supplied more than ten million pieces into projects across 35-plus countries. Every Y bend that leaves our Ahmedabad and Sanand facilities goes through the same nitrogen-purged brazing and hydrostatic testing as the rest of our copper VRF range, and carries a batch traceability mark.

It’s easy to overlook a fitting this size on a drawing. Replacing one after it’s already brazed into a header behind a false ceiling is a different story entirely — we’d rather you never had to.

Product Faqs

What is a copper Y bend used for?

It joins or splits a refrigerant line into two parallel legs, most often to connect two coil circuits in an AHU header or divide flow toward two indoor units in a VRF/VRV run. One compact, factory-brazed fitting instead of two elbows and a coupling.

What sizes and configurations are available?

Standard sizes run from 5 mm to 41.3 mm outer diameter, in both equal and reducing configurations. Our standard Small Y Bend dimensions are listed in the specification table above; intermediate or custom center distances can be formed on request.

Do you export internationally, and what are typical lead times?

Yes — we supply copper Y bends and branch fittings to customers in 35-plus countries. Lead times depend on size, quantity and insulation requirements; share your specification and our team will confirm a schedule with your quote

Which refrigerants work with 227 Enterprise Copper Y Type Distributors?

Our distributors are made from C12200 phosphorus deoxidised copper, which is the recognised industry-standard material for refrigerant-grade copper components. They are fully compatible with all commonly used HVAC&R refrigerants, including R410A and R32. If you are working with a specific refrigerant and want to confirm suitability, our technical team can advise.

What quality certifications back up 227 Enterprise Copper Y Type Distributors?

Every distributor we make is produced under our ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system, which is independently audited by TÜV Nord. Beyond that, our products carry RoHS compliance certification through BCUL, ZED Gold recognition under India's MSME Sustainable Certification Scheme, and CE marking for supply into European markets. Full supporting documentation — material certificates, test records and complete batch traceability — is available with every order. You should not have to chase paperwork after the fact, and with us, you will not need to.
